Test excavation/exploration at Loiyangalani, Lake Turkana, Kenya
In the summer of 2011, National Geographic/Waitt Foundation funded our research (Samuel Muteti and myself) to return to the founding location of the Loiyangalani mandible and maxilla as described by the Belgium tourist whom originally found it. After a successful short field season to explore the area, we returned to Nairobi to study the original specimen at the National Museums of Kenya. A publication is in preparation and as well as plans for another and more extensive field season.
